One Piece: Red what do we know about the movie
Movie: Red might be the best One Piece movie in years. Here's what you need to know about it.
A highly anticipated film
Announced on November 21, 2021 during the One Piece 1000th episode celebration, One Piece: Red is currently in production.
Scheduled for August 9, 2022 One Piece Red will be a different film from the others or from the main story that we have been able to follow until now because we will follow Shanks the mysterious character with red hair and a powerful singing voice that we don't know much. This is the perfect opportunity for fans to learn a little more about this pirate who appeared very rarely during the Mugiwara adventure.
One Piece Red will be released in Japanese cinemas on August 6, 2022. There is currently no confirmed Western release date.
During the Trailer (available below) we get a glimpse of a woman we don't know yet, so fans will have to wait to see what kind of relationship they actually share. In a message to fans, Eiichiro Oda said he was "tired of drawing legendary old men in movies" and wanted to draw a girl.
Who is working on the movie One Piece: Red?
The biggest question fans have when it comes to a One Piece movie is whether or not Oda is involved in it. It has already been confirmed that Eiichiro Oda will, in fact, be involved in One Piece: Red. He will be the producer and supervisor of the film. Although Oda has overseen a number of One Piece movies before, this is only the second time he's acted as a producer after One Piece: Strong World. According to the team working on One Piece: Red, Eiichiro Oda's involvement in the film is greater than ever, surpassing even that seen in Strong World.
Apart from Oda, the rest of the One Piece: Red team is certainly very impressive. Goro Taniguchi is the director of the film. Taniguchi has worked extensively on Code Geass before, and most recently served as the director and storyboard artist for Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection. Interestingly, Taniguchi is no stranger to Eiichiro Oda's universe and previously worked on the very first One Piece special, "One Piece: Defeating the Pirate Ganzak." »
The screenwriter for One Piece Film: Red is Tsutomu Kuroiwa, who also played the same role in One Piece Film: Gold and its special, One Piece: Heart of Gold. The rest of the film's cast has yet to be revealed. Character designs for the film were revealed at Jump Festa 2022, and it looks like Masayuki Sato is in charge once again. Toei Animation is sure to be bringing in the very best of its staff for Film Red, so there's no denying the film will be absolutely stunning.
